Cas de transition facile aux TIC (et pensée)

La lecture d’un article m’a rappelé cette merveilleuse pensée de John Dewey : “If we teach today as we did yesterday we rob our children of tomorrow.” Le reportage fait état de la satisfaction d’une commission scolaire du Kansas qui a fait l’acquisition de portables iBook. …

L’article contient plusieurs idées intéressantes :

• These days, [...] paper and pencil worksheets just don’t motivate kids; instead, [...] they have become very digital, very hands-on.

• It is also a way to close the gap between high and low achieving students.

• As the computers are being provided to students and taken home, [...] parents who have never had access to a laptop before are using them. That’s an extension of the technology into the home, [...] and I think we’re starting to see some positive things there.

• reduction of the drop-out rate is a very important goal of the laptop initiative; we want to keep kids in school, [...] so we’re looking at different ways to do that.

• part of the initiative involved getting more computer access out into the community. That [...] has taken place with the installation of wireless access both at the El Dorado city/USD 490 recreation center and at Bradford Memorial Library.
