Thanks for mentioning my Model of Engagement, and the 12 step plan. Sometimes you have to teach people the old way to understand the new! Although like all my learning resources you don't have to take them in a linear fashion, you can jump in and out as you want. But for some, nay many people, a structures approach is still appropriate to get them started. For example, I've known presenters try and explain informal learning by giving a very impromptu, informal talk in a conference presentation - and it didn't work. The consequence was incomprehension with many participants leaving determined that this was not the right thing to do. They didn't get it cos it wasn't presented in the way they understood. But as for those who are already familiar with Web 2.0 tools; they don't even need any help to get started, they can just do it intuitively - so the 12 step plan is intended for those people who need more of a guide through what might seem a complete maze. Horses for courses!
